 About the Studio

Philosophy

I believe that every person is born with musical ability, and that each person will find their own unique path toward realizing those abilities with patient guidance. Learning to sing or play an instrument is one of the most enjoyable things a person can do!

Lesson offerings

I offer weekly private instruction in piano and

voice to students from age 5 thru adult in my home studio in Glenview, a suburb northwest of Chicago. Lessons may be 30, 45 or 60 minutes in length. Beginning piano students may elect a small group class in the first year. A detailed description of lesson offerings is here.

I also offer services as a pianist and accompanist and am available to play for recitals, contests and special events.

Comprehensive Musicianship

My approach to music study is comprehensive, covering music reading, technical skills, theory, ear-training, performance of repertoire (classical, popular and/or jazz), creative work and improvisation. I believe that understanding music at its most basic level is the key to developing playing, singing and listening skills that will last a lifetime.

About me. . . .

As a teacher with over 35 years of experience, I have taught in community music schools, universities, private elementary schools and in my own studio. I especially enjoy young beginners, and have guided a number of students in their music study from kindergarten through high school and beyond. I enjoy getting to know each student and personalizing their instruction according to their individual interests.
